1.2 The construction had been finished in King Rama VI reign, the King officially endorsed the royal ladies of King Rama V, his father, to reside in Suan Sunandha. At that time, there was a wall to separate the inner court and the outer court, and there were court police which is similar to the inner court of the Grand Palace. This building is the largest one. It belonged to H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya who is the royal consort of King Rama the fifth. 1.3 Architectural styles of building This housing can be described as one of the larger sizes and was designed by an Italian architect and can vent the air very well from all sides The buildings in Suan Sunandha can be divided into 3 sizes which is small, medium and large depends on the royal status Which in Suan Sunandha there are 6, 1 small 4 mediums and 1 large Lets move on to the second floor. (Floor. 2) 2. Biography of H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya, Princess Suddhasininart 2.1 This building can be divided 2 sides.

After H.H. Saisavali married, she had 1 son and 3 daughters. As following 1) H.R.H. Prince Yugala Dighambara, Prince of Lopburi. (Who was the first member in the house of Yugala) 2) H.R.H. Princess Nabhachorn Chamras Sri 3) H.R.H. Princess Malini Nobhadara, Princess of Sri Sajanalaya. Lived here in Suan Sunandha that was located to the east of H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromyas building. 4) H.R.H. Princess Nibha Nobhadol, Princess of Udong. Her Royal Highness was also the royal hierarchy and the royal assistant to King Rama V until the end of his reign, Her Royal Highness live in the other side of the H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromyas building. ** The meaning of her childrens name is about the sky. 2.3 This is the picture of H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya. H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya was born on Friday 4th September 1863. She moved here because the reign of King Rama the sixth, there were thirty-two residential sites for King Rama the fifths Royal family and entourage at Suan Sunandha. H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya, who was one of King Rama the fifths consorts, resided at the Sai Sudha Nopadol Mansion in 1924, which is still a one of the six present excellent existing mansions(https://Suan Sunandha.ac.th/en/about/history) Towards the end of her life. She suffered from a malignant growth in her mouth. She passed away on 24th June 1929 at her mansion.

3. H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromyas bedroom 3.1 Over here you can see one of the items Buddhist monks use it is called พัดรอง and this is H.H.s emblems. These showed the civilization that Siam received from the western. 4.3 This is the corridor which bought us to the side of her daughter. 5. The background and the expertise of H.R.H. Princess Nibha Nobhadol 5.1 Next, we have here is the study room at your right here is a built-in wardrobe and right next to here is a room where they used to store the ashes of the masters but now a days it holds the Buddha statue of the University 5.2 In this corner is displayed the desk for working. As you see on this desk are some books and letters of princess Nibha NobhadolShe was well-educated and was a secretary of King Rama the fifth. She awarded of education and human being, she then found a school named It was not for common people, but it was for nobles to study and go out to make a difference. 6. The royal chamber of H.R.H. Princess Nibha Nobhadol 6.1 What is special with this bedroom is that it has built in bathroom. The special of this bed room is the built-in bathroom. You can see that this bath room is quite large and has bathtub and they already had a wooden flush toilet. As you know that the King Rama the 5th often traveled to Europe, this shows us that Thai cultures are going along very well with the Europe and modern style. 6.2 And here is the saferoom where they used to store valuable belongings into black boxes or chests. *** Picture of H.R.H. Shows how they dine which they sat on carpets and also ate at the wooden sofa which all the food would be prepared one set per person and would not be mixed together with other sets. 7.2 For H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya and H.R.H. Princess Nibha Nobhadol aresilver ware. In the present all the eat ware from that era are displayed and preserved here in the museum of H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya Exhibition hall. 7.3 H.H. Saisavali was in charge of the kitchen and all the food was ordered to be made by her. The food that the King at has to be proved by her first and she was really great at doing it too. 7.4 One dish that was invented here at Saun Sunandha is called Nam prik long ruea which can be translated to the Boat dip It was made when one of the masters wanted to have something to eat but at that time the kitchen was not in work so Chao Chom M.R. Sadap took left overs and came up with this recipe and everyone loved it. 7.5 So, this is the royal kitchen room. This room was made for keeping the kitchen tools such as the pot, the pan, the scale which all of these are made from 100% brass, and it also keeps the food ingredients, the spices, the snacks for the princesses. 7.6 And this right here are the model of food that would be served for H.H princess Saisavali Bhiromya and H.R.H Princess Nibhanopdol which in one set will be the consist of the rice, the meat, the curry, the chili pastes and the vegetables and after they done with the food, the lady in waiting will serve the dessert. Right here is ข้าวแช่, it is a famous dessert in summer in Thailand. ข้าวแช่ is the soaked rice in the cool water eat with the side dishes like the vegetables, the meat, the egg stuffed fried onion. 8. The lifestyle of the rpyal courtiers 8.1 For this room, we simulated the lifestyle of the royal courtiers. As you see, all of these are used for washing and perfuming the clothes within the royal court At that time, they didnt have the detergent, washing machine or anything to clean their clothes. So, with the wisdom of Thai people, they used the natural herbs to be useful. For washing the clothes, they were washed in boiling water, cleaned, and scented with fenugreek seed and Sweet Madagascar jasmine. 8.2 After washing and drying, the textiles were scented again in the wooden chest by burning scented candle, aromatic ingredients including myristica fragrans, agarwood and benzoin (resin, gum). 8.3 This machine is used to pleat the shoulder clothes, its function as an iron. 9. The royal drawing room 9.1 And lastly, we have the living room where they would do all sorts of activity 9.2 Next when the time changed in 1932 was the end for Princess NibhaNobhadol. H.H. moved to Bandu in Indonesia until her passing. 9.3 And here you have the paintings of the masters that have lived here and here have the pictures of the one that the University would be named after. 1) H.R.H. Princess Valaya Alongkorn, Princess of Bejraburi (was the daughter of H.M. Queen Savang Vadhana) H.R.H. was the founder of the University of Rajabhat Valaya Alongkorn, which H.H. also used to house here in Suan Sunandha but the building H.R.H. lived in was in the space of Rajabhat SuanDusit. 2) H.R.H. Princess yoavabhabongse Sanidh 3) H.R.H. Princess Adisaya Suriyabha 4) H.R.H. Princess Hemavadi 5) H.R.H. Princess Sasibongse Prabai 6) H.M. Queen Sunanda Kumariratana, had passed away on 31th May 1880 which were 30 years before the beginning of Suan Sunandha's construction. She did not stay here in Suan Sunandha because she passed away before it was finished building but the University was named after H.H. to be a memorial. 9.4 King Rama V intended to have Suan Sunandha buit for 2 reasons; 1. To be another villa since the Ambara Villa in Dusit Palace didnt seem to be private enough for the King to relax. 2. To be a place for the royal ladies; the consort, daughters, the royal mother, and the concubine of King Rama V. |
